My Editing and Research Experience

I am a meticulous academic editor with more than 25 years of research, editing, and writing experience. I work as an independent contractor offering editing services for journal articles, books, grant proposals, and other types of academic papers. I enjoy working with non-native English speakers and have taught English overseas. My services range from simple proofreading to document editing for style and consistency (particularly when there are multiple authors) to content review. My rates are reasonable, and I pride myself on being professional, accurate, efficient, and flexible. I also do not miss deadlines.

Quantitative Analysis Background

My graduate research and subsequent work in public policy have given me a solid understanding of statistical methods, of how to read and interpret statistical tables, and of how to write about findings.

Qualitative Analysis Background

Both my anthropology and policy graduate programs included extensive qualitative field work. I have been the qualitative lead on several studies and have edited dozens of papers that rely on qualitative methods.

Experience Working with Non-Native English Speakers

Currently based in Colorado, I have lived and worked in five countries and have traveled to more than 40 nations. I taught English to adults in Japan for three years. One year of this was spent in Tsukuba, “the science city,” teaching Tsukuba University professors and scientists from NASDA, the Japanese space program. This included editing papers to be delivered at conferences in the US and UK and journal articles for English-language publications. I also spent six months teaching Tibetan monks English and computer skills in Dharamsala, India. Additionally, my graduate anthropology studies centered on refugees in the United States, including people from Afghanistan, Laos (Hmong), and Somalia. I have since worked with academic authors from many countries.
